Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

http://inhisw.wordpress.com/2013/10/11/psalm-563-when-i-am-afraid/

Do you have any fears?  Let me rephrase the question: what are your fears?  Fear is a product of our insecurities.  Being human places us in situations where we cannot control everything, and ultimately, this makes us anxious about what we face or what is about to happen.

Last night, a rumor started because of  a news report about a mysterious flesh-eating disease occurring somewhere in Pangasinan.  They are linking this incident to a fulfilled prophecy from an individual. This morning, my Facebook news feed was filled with these videos, and I noticed how this has caused  fear in the public.  Don't get me wrong; I am not saying it is wrong to feel fear.  But whenever we feel insecure or afraid, what is the right thing to do about it?  Were you also afraid of this news that spread?  How are we going to deal with it?  Let's see how we can respond in light of the Scriptures.

Fear is definitely not from the Lord. In 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) it says:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Should we dwell on our fears?  No, we should not continuously live with them.  We must combat these negative feelings.  When we are with the Lord, we have the assurance that God holds us in the palm of His hands, and no one can take us away from Him (John 10:29).  God offers us His love, the perfect kind of love we need to erase all our fears (I John 1:18).  You can experience this love by establishing a personal relationship with the Lord.  Ask Him to be part of your life and believe that He is your Savior.  He can save you from whatever situation you are in right now if you surrender your entire life to Him.  God offers us eternal security with Him.  For those who have this kind of relationship with the Lord, keep reminding yourself of His words.  He said, "Do not be afraid"; these words are written many times in the Bible.  Keep holding on to His promises because He is always true to them.

We don't need another messenger to tell us how the end will happen because the Bible has already revealed the things that are about to come.  This man may be correct in his predictions regarding the disasters that have occurred in our country. However, the Bible remains the sole authority we should follow and believe, as it is the word of God.  How do you feel about Jesus' second coming?  Yes, it is frightening that the earth is nearing its end, but on second thought, isn't it a day to rejoice? On this day, all the saints will come together to worship God, and it also signifies that our Savior will create a new heaven and earth, where all the forces of darkness are completely wiped out because Satan will be bound in hell.  Isn't it the grandest day?

I used to feel afraid when hearing about this end times stuff and also about death.  At some point, I still have a little fear regarding these matters and some difficulties I face today. However, as I continue my Christian journey and learn His Words, I find assurance and security knowing that whatever happens in my life, God is in control.  Death is inevitable, and everything will surely come to an end.  I have learned that the earth is not my home; my real home is in heaven. Everything I have here is just temporary. Whether it is Christ's second coming or my personal death that comes first, I am prepared for it.  It is the hope I have in Christ that after this life on earth, I will spend my days living with Him where there is no more sorrow or pain. The Apostle Paul said, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."  Death is a sure gain when you have the assurance of heaven.

Regarding the news hype, Pangasinan's provincial health officer stated that the flesh-eating disease is not a mystery at all, so there is no need to panic.  I wonder why some people feel the need to sensationalize news.  What could their motive be?
